(BSET
Privileges)
Section
1. These
privileges are set forth by the Ball State Office
of Recreation Services and the Student Organization
Association.
Section
2. BSET is
primarily funded through membership dues and
through fundraising dollars earned by members. As
an active sports club, BSET is eligible for funding
support available through Allocation requests.
Recreation Services creates an allocation funding
board that hears all request presentations and then
allocates money between all the active recreation
teams. (A team must be active for one full year
before they are allowed to participate in
allocation requests.)
Section
3. As a
recognized club, BSET has an organizational mailbox
in IG 104 (lower level next to the equipment room).
All university correspondence goes to this
location. All mail in the mailbox is the
responsibility of the BSET President to obtain.

IV
(BSET
Responsibilities)
Section
1. These
responsibilities are set forth by the Ball State
Office of Recreation Services and the Student
Organization Association.
Section
2. BSET
must maintain active status with the Office of
Leadership and Service Programs. The privileges and
advantages of being involved in a student
organization are many; however, before BSET is able
to take full advantage of these privileges, BSET
must maintain status with the Officer of Leadership
and Service Programs. This includes keeping the
Officer of Leadership and Service Programs aware of
the club activities and status through an update of
records at the beginning of each fall semester.
Section
3. The
Office of Recreation Services will hold
organizational and informational meetings
throughout the academic year. There will be
approximately three (3) meetings per semester.
These meetings are essential for effective
administration of all active sports clubs. As a
sports club, BSET is responsible for representation
at each of these meetings. For the first
(1st)
offense of missing one of these meetings, BSET will
be on probation for the remainder of the academic
year and must meet with an Office of Recreation
Services staff member within one week of the missed
meeting. Failure to meet with the Office of
Recreation Services will result in further
disciplinary actions. For the second
(2nd)
offense, BSET will become inactive and
lose its recognition as a Ball State University
Sport Club. This
will result in a freeze on all funds provided by
Ball State
University and the Office of Recreation Services.
Section
4. It is
imperative that BSET maintain financial matters in
an organized and responsible manner. Poor financial
decisions reflect on BSET and Ball State
University. Once the Office of Recreation Services
is notified of any financial problem (bounced
check, missed payment, etc.) BSET has seven (7)
days to settle the issue in the appropriate manner.
If it is deemed by the Office of Recreation
Services that problems are
not solved correctly, the club is subject to a loss
of all funding.
Section
5. All
paperwork for BSET is to be turned in to the sport
club graduate assistant in IG 104 in the tray
located below the team mailboxes. Release forms are
due from all members before activity can begin.
Within one (1) week of activity, a membership
roster, officer listing, and informational sheet
must be turned in. Forty-eight (48) hours before
any team travel, a travel itinerary and pre-game
report must be turned in. Within forty-eight (48)
hours of return from a show, a post-game report
must be turned in. A semester report must be turned
in within one (1) week of semester completion.
Section
6. As
requested by the Office of Recreation Services,
BSET is required to have two (2) people on file
that are CPR certified that can be in attendance of
all lessons and competitions. Coaches are to be
certified in CPR to fulfill this requirement.
Section
7. As a
student organization on campus, BSET is responsible
for communication to the Student Organization
Association. SOA is located in the Student Center
L1 (in the basement). Communication with this
office is the responsibility of the
BSET Secretary.
